UA Student Essentials


UA’s online dashboard is called myBama. This is where you will register for classes, access your Crimson email and see your class schedule and grades. You’ll be able to order textbooks, get updates from professors and have access to all the resources of The University of Alabama online (including the library). myBama is easy to use!

Bama Ready Orientation

Bama Ready is your orientation for UA’s online programs and introduces distance learning students to the essential tools and resources they need to be successful at UA.

Action Card

Your Action Card is your official student identification card for use in test proctoring (and accessing student discounts). For all UA students, Action Cards are now digital, stored on your smartphone. For more information, visit the Action Card website.

Academic Advising and Registration

Academic Advising

  • Undergraduate students should be advised prior to registering for coursework. Academic advising is conducted in the individual colleges, and the process may vary based on your major. Some programs will send advising information directly to your Crimson email account and some programs require you to contact them for advising. You should have received an email from us following your acceptance detailing the next steps for your particular program. If you have any questions about how to proceed, please email
  • Graduate students will receive instructions from their academic departments about which courses to take, but advising is not required for registration. If you have questions, reach out to the program coordinator in your college.



Textbooks can be purchased through the UA Supe Store or through the bookstore of your choice. It is important to locate the necessary textbook details from myBama, including the ISBN number for your books. Ordering books using the ISBN ensures that you purchase the correct textbook and edition. We’ve included the video below to help you navigate your textbook search.
