How To Transfer Your Credits

We welcome transfer credits from accredited institutions across the U.S. In addition to any AP, IB, CLEP, dual enrollment and military credit, you may transfer up to:

  • 60 credit hours from a 2-year institution
  • 90 credit hours from a 4-year institution

All transcripts are processed through the Office of the University Registrar. Please visit their site for specific directions on where to send your official transcripts for review.

You will receive a transfer credit evaluation during the admissions process to maximize the credits you've already earned. After admission, your advisor may review your coursework for additional credit toward your degree.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about transferring to UA Online? We've got answers.

Will my degree be the same as attending on campus?

A degree earned through UA Online is identical to one earned on campus. You'll receive the same prestigious degree taught by the same faculty using the same curriculum.

Can you evaluate my transcripts prior to being admitted?

Unfortunately, no. Please refer to the Transfer Credit Equivalency tool for an idea of which courses may transfer. You may also compare your transcripts to the curriculum requirements via your program of interest’s webpage.

What is the transfer GPA requirement?

Undergraduate students must have a 2.0 GPA on any college-level coursework attempted. If you will have fewer than 24 credit hours (36 quarter hours) when you apply to UA, your high school transcript GPA must be at least 2.5.

What is the application fee, and can I get it waived?

The application fee is $40 for undergraduate applicants. Waivers are available for active-duty military members and veterans, students who submit an approved NACAC fee waiver and Alabama residents (undergraduate applicants only).

What does the application-to-enrollment process look like?

The application process requires all official transcripts from previously and currently attended institutions, a completed application, successful identity verification, and an application fee. Once your application is complete and all required documents have been received, you will typically receive an admissions decision via email within two to four weeks.

Once you have been admitted, you will receive information about accessing your myBama student account, completing Bama Ready Orientation, advisor contact information and other helpful resources. Your advisor will also assist you with the course registration process, and you will also be assigned a student success coach to assist you along your journey with UA.
