Tyler Morgan

Quality is something always on Tyler Morgan’s mind. Tyler works at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, where he’s a senior quality engineer for the Navy’s missile production. His leadership encouraged a more technical background, which Tyler is fulfilling by earning a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering through UA Online.

This isn’t Tyler’s first experience with higher education, either; he holds both a bachelor’s in Business Management from the University of Georgia and a master’s in Quality Assurance from Kennesaw State University.

“I’ve had some pretty technical work experience over the years but my background is in business and quality,” said Tyler. “To match my education with my experience and to grow my leadership opportunities, I decided to go back and get a second bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.”

Tyler has found that his education has been crucial in enhancing his technical skills and knowledge in the workplace. Additionally, he has also found that his work has been helpful for his success in the classroom, giving him practical and applied experience with course concepts.

Balancing work, life and school has become a major part of Tyler’s routine. He married his high school sweetheart, and when he’s home from work, their time is spent with their two children, 3-year-old Henley and 1-year-old Ames. Tyler also uses weekends to catch up on any lectures and assignments in between playing guitar in the worship band at his local church.

“I like the format; it’s just so flexible. I can catch up on lectures on the weekend and don’t have to call in at a certain time for a class,” said Tyler.

Tyler says that he especially likes that he’s a part of the same classes, learns from the same professors and takes the same tests as the on-campus students pursuing the same degree. He said that the professors are always readily available to answer his questions.

“I’m about 400 miles away and the professors are available to me more than at the local schools where I took my prerequisites,” said Tyler. “I haven’t had any issues communicating with professors, and I’m so thankful for that.”
