From the day I was accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program at The University of Alabama, I was impressed with how hard the faculty and university worked to ensure that our online experience was as full and well rounded as the experiences of students taking classes on campus. I truly felt like part of the Alabama family and knew that if I had any issues, someone would be there to help.
Academically speaking, the RN to BSN program was everything I could have hoped for and more. The faculty were great educators with both the clinical nursing experience and a passion for teaching that made it a pleasure to learn from them. They were able to show what the BSN meant for those of us working in health care and how this degree was the beginning of a “big picture” career. The faculty helped me develop my nursing personality and guided me toward a professional career path that made sense for my innate talent and skills. The classes were challenging, especially working full time; however, I was able to apply everything I learned to my practice immediately. I had coworkers who were enrolled in BSN programs at other institutions and none of them were as excited about their degree as I was. UA sets itself apart with its passionate faculty and applicable assignments.
Since graduation, I’ve differentiated myself in the workplace by being elected to the position of charge nurse, and I am part of several council groups around the hospital aimed at improving nursing practice and hospital policy. I’ve been looking toward obtaining professional certification from the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and enrolling in a master’s degree program to continue the career growth I began at The University of Alabama.
Even though I’ve graduated, I cannot say enough about how amazing and wonderful my experience was at The University of Alabama. I’m so proud to be a part of the Roll Tide Nation and so thankful for all the experiences and opportunities that have come my way because of this degree. Roll Tide Roll!
