Program Overview

Learn how nutrition can support physical activity, performance and overall well-being with the online minor in Sport and Performance Nutrition. You’ll explore evidence-based nutrition strategies for fueling, hydration, exercise and recovery while building practical knowledge you can apply across a variety of recreational, competitive and high-demand settings.

Fuel Your Knowledge

Whether your interests are in nutrition, fitness, athletics or the broader sport industry, the Sport and Performance Nutrition minor can complement your major with practical, science-based knowledge about the connection between nutrition and physical performance.

Through 18 credit hours of coursework, you’ll examine topics such as macronutrients, hydration, energy balance and fueling strategies while learning to critically evaluate common nutrition claims and products. Flexible electives allow you to further explore areas such as food preparation, food service management, athletic training, exercise physiology and the sport industry.

You’ll finish the minor better prepared to communicate simple, evidence-based nutrition strategies that support performance, recovery and well-being.

Admission

Before selecting a minor, you must be admitted to a major program (bachelor’s degree). You can pursue the minor of your choice along with your major coursework after gaining approval from your adviser.
