Program Overview

UA’s 100% online Children’s Media minor will provide you with the skills necessary to succeed in a range of industry areas. Students will focus on examining the effects of media on children and adolescents/young adults, managing print and digital media platforms, and creating media content for these age groups.

Learn How to Design Engaging Media for Children and Adolescents

Add a competitive edge to your skill set! Our interdisciplinary courses combine foundational knowledge and practical skills to help you evaluate, critique, plan and produce different types of media for children and adolescents/young adults.

This minor provides an opportunity for students to learn more about the social aspects of children’s media production that can augment their learning in a variety of disciplines such as advertising and public relations, journalism and creative media, early childhood education, English, human development and family studies, child psychology, pediatrics, speech pathology and communication studies.

Curriculum

The Children’s Media minor requires 18 credit hours, comprised of 9 hours of required courses and 9 hours of electives. The minor is flexible, convenient and includes courses that also fulfill core curriculum requirements, easing your path to graduation.

Admission

Before selecting a minor, you must be admitted to a major program (bachelor’s degree). You can pursue the minor of your choice along with your major coursework after gaining approval from your academic advisor.
