Make a Difference for Students With ASD
UA Online’s graduate certificate in Autism is for teachers, counselors and related professionals seeking a flexible option to expand their knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and how to best show up for their students. This 100% online, 12-hour program
The curriculum emphasizes a research-to-practice approach through interdisciplinary training in special education, applied behavior analysis, communication and development, and educational psychology that builds confidence in working with diverse student populations and their families. It can also align with the MA in Special Education with a concentration in Autism and the EdD in Special Education.
Graduates are prepared for roles such as special education teacher, behavior interventionist, autism support specialist, inclusion coordinator, IEP/504 plan team member, paraprofessional supervisor and school counselor or psychologist with an ASD specialization. This program is also ideal for general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists and occupational therapists who work with school-aged children with autism.

Curriculum
The Graduate Certificate in Autism requires the completion of 12 credit hours. Please note that courses are subject to change.

- SPE 504 Introduction to Assistive Technology
Admission
Applicants must hold a completed bachelor’s degree. The application will include the requested Graduate School materials including unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended, three letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose.
